#10- Larry Bird

Starting off the Top 10 with Larry Legend.

The premier shooter of the 80s was as clutch as they come and as cold-blooded as they come. Bird famously walked into the first ever Three-Point Contest and asked the room, “Which one of you guys is going to finish second?” Then he went out and backed it up.

Bird averaged a double-double for his career and became one of only three players in NBA history to win three straight MVP awards, joining Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain. He was a three-time NBA champion, a two-time Finals MVP, the best player on the dynastic Celtics teams of the 80s, and averaged a double-double for a career 24ppg 10 Rebounds.

And we can’t forget his legendary college career at Indiana State. Bird took the Sycamores to an undefeated regular season and all the way to the 1979 national championship game, setting up his famous matchup with Magic Johnson and Michigan State before their rivalry eventually carried over to the NBA. Unfortunately back issues cut Larry’s career shorter then it should have.

Larry could shoot, rebound, pass, talk trash, and come through when the moment was at its biggest. Maybe he is under rated since he was white man in a predominately black league, but i didn’t forget about you Larry.

Larry Legend starts off my list as the 10th greatest NBA player of all time.

Check back tomorrow for number 9.
