EST Elite: NFL Power Rankings – Week 7

Seven weeks into the 2026 NFL season, the race for the top spot has become more confusing than ever.

San Francisco suffered its first defeat, Kansas City was embarrassed in Seattle, and Minnesota remains unbeaten despite an offense that continues to raise questions. Meanwhile, Detroit makes its first appearance in our rankings, Green Bay slides, and Baltimore has finally run out of chances.

As always, these rankings aren’t determined solely by win-loss records. We consider overall team quality, recent performances, consistency, and which teams we believe would beat the others if they played today.

Here are this week’s EST Elite Top 10 NFL teams.

1. Buffalo Bills (↑ 2)

If I could leave the No. 1 spot vacant, I would. But I can’t, so the Bills inherit it.

Buffalo moves into first place without playing a game, and that tells you everything about the state of the NFL’s top contenders.

San Francisco lost to Atlanta, Kansas City managed just three points against Seattle, and Minnesota still hasn’t convinced us offensively.

The Bills certainly aren’t without problems. Their defense remains a significant concern, and relying on Josh Allen to rescue them every week isn’t a sustainable championship formula.

Nevertheless, someone has to occupy first place.

Congratulations, Buffalo. I guess.

2. San Francisco 49ers (↓ 1)

The Niners haven’t looked good in 2 weeks. Only managing 80 yards in second half against the commanders, now losing first game to Falcons

Four turnovers proved costly, and San Francisco’s offense struggled to find its rhythm against an aggressive Atlanta defense.

The 49ers have been one of the NFL’s most impressive teams this season, but their recent performances have raised questions.

We criticized their conservative second-half approach against Washington last week. This time, their mistakes caught up with them.

One defeat doesn’t erase everything San Francisco has accomplished, but the 49ers can no longer justify holding first place.

3. Seattle Seahawks (↑ 2)

Now that’s how you make a statement.

The Seattle Seahawks defeated the previously unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs 20–3, delivering one of the most impressive defensive performances of the season.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense had virtually no answers for Seattle’s defense.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba continues to establish himself among the NFL’s best receivers, giving Seattle an explosive weapon even when the rest of the offense struggles.

However, we’re not forgetting the Seahawks’ inconsistency. This is still a team that entered Sunday with four losses, and Sam Darnold must continue improving his decision-making.

Seattle has demonstrated it can defeat the NFL’s best. Now it needs to show that it can do so consistently.

4. Kansas City Chiefs (↓ 2)

Three points.

That’s all the Kansas City Chiefs could produce against Seattle.

For a team that entered Week 7 unbeaten, Sunday’s 20–3 defeat was an embarrassing offensive performance.

Kansas City’s defense has been excellent this season, but the offense remains too dependent on Patrick Mahomes creating something out of nothing.

Kenneth Walker III has improved the running game, yet the Chiefs still lack consistent production from their receiving corps.

The talent is there to compete for another championship, but Kansas City cannot afford another performance like this against a serious contender.

The Chiefs remain fourth because of their overall quality, not because of anything they showed Sunday.

5. Minnesota Vikings (↓ 1)

The Minnesota Vikings improved to 6–0 with a 16–10 victory over Indianapolis.

Their defense continues to deliver, and Minnesota deserves credit for remaining undefeated.

But we have to ask: where is the offense?

Sixteen points against Indianapolis hardly inspires confidence, especially when Minnesota is being compared with the NFL’s strongest teams.

The Vikings have one of the league’s best defenses, but championship contenders need to be capable of winning games in multiple ways.

Until Minnesota demonstrates greater offensive consistency, we’re not comfortable moving it any higher.

6. Chicago Bears (↔)

The Chicago Bears continue to impress, defeating New England 30–24 on Thursday Night Football.

Caleb Williams has brought a different dimension to Chicago’s offense, and the Bears are becoming increasingly difficult to defend.

However, Thursday’s victory wasn’t without concerns.

Chicago allowed New England opportunities to remain competitive, and the Bears still need to become more disciplined if they’re going to challenge the teams above them.

Nevertheless, this team continues moving in the right direction.

Chicago retains sixth place, with an opportunity to climb if its performances become more consistent.

7. Detroit Lions (NEW)

Welcome to the EST Elite, Detroit!

The Lions enter our rankings following a hard-fought 20–17 victory over division rival Green Bay.

Detroit demonstrated resilience in a competitive matchup, finding a way to secure the victory when it mattered.

The Lions haven’t been perfect this season, but their recent performances are becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

Winning divisional games is never easy, and Detroit deserves credit for overcoming a Packers team that entered Sunday riding a three-game winning streak.

The Lions still have weaknesses to address, but they’ve earned their place among our top 10.

8. Jacksonville Jaguars (↔)

The Jacksonville Jaguars remain eighth following their bye week.

Jacksonville entered its break after a disappointing 34–31 defeat against Houston, a performance that exposed several defensive weaknesses.

The Jaguars have shown enough talent to remain in our rankings, but their recent results have been concerning.

Their narrow escape against Philadelphia followed by the loss to Houston suggests this team still has plenty to prove.

Jacksonville needs to return from its bye with a more convincing performance.

For now, the Jaguars retain eighth place, but that position is far from secure.

9. Green Bay Packers (↓ 2)

The Green Bay Packers fall two positions following their 20–17 defeat against Detroit.

After winning three consecutive games, Green Bay appeared to be building momentum.

Sunday’s loss was a setback.

The Packers struggled to consistently move the football and couldn’t deliver enough offensively to overcome their divisional rivals.

Green Bay still possesses considerable talent, but the offensive line and overall consistency remain concerns.

The Packers aren’t falling out of our rankings just yet, but they’ll need to respond quickly.

10. New England Patriots (↓ 1)

The New England Patriots narrowly retain the final position despite losing 30–24 to Chicago.

New England has exceeded expectations this season, and Drake Maye continues to provide reasons for optimism.

However, Thursday’s defeat highlighted the gap between being a competitive team and consistently defeating quality opponents.

The Patriots showed resilience, but they couldn’t do enough to overcome the Bears.

New England remains in our top 10 based on its overall progress, although its position is becoming increasingly vulnerable.

Another defeat could be enough to send the Patriots out.

Teams Dropping Out

Baltimore Ravens (Previously No. 10)

Enough is enough.

The Baltimore Ravens suffered an embarrassing 35–13 defeat against Cincinnati, and their offense continues to disappoint.

Baltimore entered the season with considerable expectations, but its performances have fallen well short of what this roster should be capable of producing.

Last week, we warned that another disappointing outing could send the Ravens out of our rankings.

They’ve now given us no reason to keep them.

Baltimore has the talent to return, but until its performances improve, the Ravens no longer belong among the EST Elite.

Final Thoughts

Week 7 has left us without a convincing number one team.

Buffalo inherits the top position, San Francisco drops after its first defeat, and Seattle makes a significant jump following its dominant defensive performance against Kansas City.

Minnesota remains unbeaten, but offensive concerns prevent the Vikings from climbing. Detroit earns its first appearance, while Green Bay and New England slide.

Baltimore, meanwhile, finally falls out following another unacceptable defeat.

The biggest question heading into Week 8 is simple: which team will finally separate itself from the rest?

Who belongs in the EST Elite Top 10? Which team is ranked too high, and who deserves more respect?
