EST Excellence: NFL Week 7

Week 7 of the 2026 NFL season delivered outstanding individual performances, surprising results, and a few players reminding the league exactly what they’re capable of.

Joe Burrow dominated Baltimore after a difficult start, Michael Penix Jr. handed San Francisco its first defeat, and Jared Goff helped Detroit secure an important divisional victory.

At wide receiver, Jameson Williams delivered two touchdowns against Green Bay, CeeDee Lamb played a major role in Dallas’ victory over Philadelphia, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba continued his exceptional season against Kansas City.

As always, EST Excellence recognizes more than just statistics. The quality of the opposition, the importance of the performance, and the impact on the outcome all matter.

Here are our Week 7 selections.

EST Excellence — Quarterbacks

🥇 1. Joe Burrow — Cincinnati Bengals

Week 7 Stats: 22/30 Passing | 292 Yards | 4 TD | 0 INT

What a turnaround from Joe Burrow.

At one point during the second quarter, Burrow was just 3-for-9 passing with fewer than 50 yards, and Cincinnati found itself trailing Baltimore 13–0.

The Bengals’ offense looked completely out of rhythm, and the Ravens appeared to be in control.

Then everything changed.

Burrow threw all four of his touchdown passes in the second half, completely turning the game around as Cincinnati stormed back to defeat Baltimore 35–13.

After struggling to move the football early, Burrow took control of the offense and repeatedly punished Baltimore’s defense.

The Bengals scored 35 unanswered points, transforming what looked like a disappointing afternoon into a dominant divisional victory.

Going from fewer than 50 passing yards midway through the second quarter to finishing with 292 yards and four touchdowns is remarkable.

Burrow didn’t just put up impressive numbers. He completely changed the direction of the game.

That earns him our No. 1 quarterback spot for Week 7.

🥈 2. Michael Penix Jr. — Atlanta Falcons

Week 7 Stats: 25/34 Passing | 213 Yards | 3 TD | 0 INT

Michael Penix Jr. earns second place after leading Atlanta to a 29–20 victory over the previously unbeaten San Francisco 49ers.

Penix threw three touchdown passes without an interception against one of the NFL’s best team.

Atlanta entered the matchup facing a difficult challenge, but Penix remained composed and helped the Falcons capitalize on San Francisco’s mistakes.

The performance wasn’t about producing enormous passing yardage. It was about executing when opportunities presented themselves.

Handing the 49ers their first loss carries significant weight, and Penix deserves recognition for his contribution.

🥉 3. Jared Goff — Detroit Lions

Week 7 Stats: 303 Passing Yards | 2 TD | 0 INT

Jared Goff rounds out our quarterback rankings following Detroit’s 20–17 victory over Green Bay.

Goff threw for 303 yards and two touchdowns without an interception, helping the Lions secure an important victory over their NFC North rivals.

Detroit needed a steady performance from its quarterback, and Goff delivered.

His connection with Jameson Williams was particularly important, with Williams finding the end zone twice.

The Lions continue gaining momentum, and Goff’s ability to protect the football while moving the offense makes him a deserving selection.

Honorable Mention: Dak Prescott — Dallas Cowboys

Week 7 Stats: 15/27 Passing | 212 Yards | 3 TD | 0 INT

Dak Prescott deserves recognition following Dallas’ 38–21 victory over Philadelphia on Monday Night Football.

Prescott threw three touchdown passes without an interception, including two to CeeDee Lamb and another to George Pickens.

Dallas dominated the second half, and Prescott helped the Cowboys take advantage of their opportunities.

His passing numbers weren’t as impressive as those of our top three, but three touchdowns in a convincing divisional victory deserve an honorable mention.

EST Excellence — Wide Receivers

🥇 1. Jameson Williams — Detroit Lions

Week 7 Stats: 5 Receptions | 91 Yards | 2 TD

Jameson Williams takes the top spot following an excellent performance against Green Bay.

Williams caught five passes for 91 yards and two touchdowns, providing Detroit with the explosive plays it needed in a closely contested divisional matchup.

His speed remains one of the most dangerous weapons in the NFL, but this performance demonstrated his value as more than just a deep threat.

Both touchdown receptions proved important in a game Detroit ultimately won by only three points.

Williams didn’t lead the league in receiving yards this week, but his impact on the outcome was undeniable.

That’s what EST Excellence is about.

🥈 2. CeeDee Lamb — Dallas Cowboys

Week 7 Stats: 5 Receptions | 74 Yards | 2 TD

CeeDee Lamb earns second place after helping Dallas defeat Philadelphia 38–21.

Lamb finished with five receptions for 74 yards and two touchdowns, giving Dak Prescott a reliable target in the red zone.

Dallas needed its biggest offensive playmakers to deliver against a divisional rival, and Lamb answered the call.

His two touchdown receptions helped the Cowboys take control of the game, particularly as Dallas pulled away during the second half.

Lamb may not have produced the highest receiving yardage total of the week, but his ability to finish drives made the difference.

Two touchdowns in a divisional victory earn him second place.

🥉 3. Jaxon Smith-Njigba — Seattle Seahawks

Week 7 Stats: 9 Receptions | 150 Yards | 1 TD

Jaxon Smith-Njigba is becoming inevitable.

In the first half alone against Kansas City, JSN recorded six receptions for 129 yards and a touchdown. That’s an outstanding full-game performance for most receivers, and he accomplished it before halftime.

He finished with nine receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown as Seattle defeated the previously unbeaten Chiefs 20–3.

At this point, Smith-Njigba has easily been the best wide receiver in the NFL this season.

His consistency is remarkable. Opposing defenses know he’s Seattle’s primary receiving threat, yet they continue struggling to contain him.

And here’s what makes his season even more impressive: this is JSN’s fourth EST Excellence selection of the year.

We’re only seven weeks into the season, and he’s already earned recognition four times.

It’s becoming almost impossible to put together these rankings without including him.

JSN isn’t just having an excellent season. He’s making excellence look inevitable.

Honorable Mention: Tank Dell — Houston Texans

Week 7 Stats: 1 Reception | 43 Yards

Not every EST Excellence recognition needs to be about the biggest numbers.

Tank Dell returned to regular-season action after nearly two years away following a devastating knee injury suffered in December 2024.

The Houston receiver recorded one reception for 43 yards against the New York Giants.

Houston ultimately lost 27–21, but seeing Dell back on an NFL field was significant.

After the rehabilitation and uncertainty that come with such a serious injury, simply returning to competition is an accomplishment.

His 43-yard reception offered a glimpse of the explosiveness that made him such an exciting player before his injury.

Welcome back, Tank Dell.

Final Thoughts

Week 7 reminded us that excellence comes in different forms.

Joe Burrow delivered an extraordinary comeback, overcoming a 13–0 deficit and a difficult start to throw four second-half touchdowns.

Michael Penix Jr. helped Atlanta upset an unbeaten opponent, while Jared Goff guided Detroit past Green Bay.

Among wide receivers, Jameson Williams and CeeDee Lamb made their marks with two touchdowns apiece.

Meanwhile, Jaxon Smith-Njigba earned his fourth EST Excellence selection of the season, continuing what has been an exceptional campaign.

And sometimes, excellence means overcoming adversity.

Tank Dell’s return to the field deserves recognition regardless of the final score.
